Centre orthodoxe du Patriarcat œcuménique de Pregny-Chambésy, Eastern Orthodox religious center in Pregny-Chambésy, Switzerland
The Orthodox Center of the Ecumenical Patriarchate sits on one hectare of the former Fougères estate and houses Saint Paul Church along with two additional chapels. These buildings serve as places of worship and community life for different Orthodox congregations.
The Patriarchate established this religious institution in 1966 under Patriarch Athenagoras I of Constantinople to strengthen Orthodox presence in Switzerland. The founding was part of a broader effort to create a central place for various Orthodox communities in Western Europe.
The center brings together Greek, Romanian, and French-speaking Orthodox communities, each maintaining their own liturgical traditions and practices. You can experience the different worship services and celebrations that take place throughout the year.
The center can be accessed through two entrances on Chemin de Chambésy and Chemin des Cornillons. Visitors should allow flexible time for their visit, as worship services and opening hours may vary by season and religious holidays.
Saint Paul Church was designed by architects Georges Lavas and Arthur Bugna and holds about 300 worshippers. The building blends Orthodox architectural forms with modern elements inspired by its Swiss setting.
