Gate Lodge, Residential gatekeeper lodge on Mount Austin Road, Victoria Peak, Hong Kong
The Gate Lodge features a Neo-classical design with rounded corners, three triangular pediments adorning its upper facade, and a compact rectangular floor plan.
Built between 1900 and 1902, the Gate Lodge served as living quarters for the keeper of Mountain Lodge, the former summer residence of Hong Kong governors.
The Gate Lodge represents British colonial architectural influence in Hong Kong through its Renaissance style design and traditional residential construction methods.
The building stands at Mount Austin Road in Victoria Peak Garden and functions as a site office for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
The structure remains the sole surviving element of the Mountain Lodge complex, which was demolished in 1946, and received monument status in 1995.
