Sassoon House, Art Deco skyscraper in Huangpu District, China
Sassoon House is an Art Deco tall building overlooking the Bund with a restored glass dome and marble-lined interior spaces. The structure connects several levels through a central arcade linking retail, hotel, and exhibition areas.
The building was constructed in 1929 as the Cathay Hotel with offices and apartments for its developer Victor Sassoon. Its design reflected Shanghai's growth as an emerging global trading center.
The building shaped how the Bund looked and shows how early 20th-century Shanghai attracted international traders and travelers. Today, the space still feels like a meeting point between East and West.
