The Old Town-Hall features a two-story facade with eight Corinthian columns and a dome topped by a gilded Atlas statue at its summit point.
Constructed in 1753 under Frederick II's initiative, architects Jan Bouman and Carl Ludwig Hildebrandt designed this building as part of Potsdam's transformation into a royal seat.
The sandstone sculptures on the facade represent six civic values: vigilance, fortitude, wealth, justice, trade, and caution, reflecting municipal governance principles.
The Potsdam Museum inside the Old Town-Hall displays art and historical exhibitions, with access through the main entrance at Am Alten Markt 9.
Local residents nickname the Atlas statue atop the building 'the doll,' and until 1875 the tower served as a prison known as 'The Doll House'.
