Trudering-Riem

Trudering-Riem is a borough on Munich's eastern edge that mixes modern apartment buildings, older family homes, shopping areas, and parks throughout its neighborhoods. The district spreads across a substantial area with varied building types and open spaces.

Trudering and Riem were originally two separate villages that became part of Munich during the 1930s. Riem later hosted the city's main airport, which operated until 1992 before the grounds were repurposed.

The churches of St. Martin in Riem and St. Peter and Paul in Kirchtrudering stand as focal points in the community, showing how religious buildings remain central to local life. These structures serve as gathering places that connect generations of residents to their neighborhood.

Multiple U-Bahn stations connect this district to downtown Munich and surrounding areas with frequent service. Getting around on foot or by local transit is straightforward from most residential neighborhoods.

The former airport grounds transformed into Messe München International, a large convention center hosting major trade shows and events. Nearby Riemer Park features a lake and recreational spaces where locals spend leisure time.
