Bederkesaer Roland, Roland statue in Bad Bederkesa, Germany

The stone knight statue stands 1.90 meters tall on a 1.45-meter pedestal, wearing turquoise Renaissance armor and holding a drawn sword.

Created between 1599 and 1604, possibly by Bremen sculptor Lüder von Bentheim, the statue first appeared in written records in a 1736 inventory.

The statue displays the imperial double eagle on its shield and features four lions on the pedestal holding various coats of arms from Bremen.

The Roland statue currently stands in the courtyard of Bederkesa Castle, after multiple relocations since its original placement atop the castle well house.

The statue's pedestal, constructed in 1953, incorporates demolished stones from Bremen and supports the turquoise-colored knight figure.
