Vorgeschichtspfad Flögeln, Archaeological site with megalithic tombs in Geestland, Germany
The Vorgeschichtspfad Flögeln features multiple ancient burial structures with stone chambers measuring up to 8.6 meters in length, connected by marked pathways.
The stone cists and burial mounds at this location date back to the Neolithic period, between 3500 and 2800 BCE, belonging to the Funnel Beaker culture.
Excavations at the site revealed numerous artifacts including flint tools, decorated pottery fragments, and burial practices indicating specific positioning of the deceased.
The archaeological path extends for two kilometers through the Flögelner Holz state forest, leading visitors to 30 prehistoric monuments and medieval ground structures.
The site contains two substantial megalithic tombs, Flögeln 131 and 132, with the first tomb preserving its original chamber structure of ten support stones and five capstones.
