Breitenberg

Breitenberg is a 1838-meter summit in the Tannheim Mountains of Bavaria that shapes the overall landscape through its distinctive form and steep ridges. Its slopes display clear rock formations and vegetation patterns visible from many angles.

For centuries this peak served as a natural boundary marker in Bavaria's mountain landscape, helping travelers and local residents find their way. From the 19th century onward it became an increasingly popular destination for mountaineers and later skiers.

The paths crossing Breitenberg connect small Bavarian villages and show how people in this region have lived and worked between the mountains for generations. For hikers and skiers, this summit serves as a natural gathering point in the landscape.

The route to the summit is visible from below but requires care during slippery conditions, especially after rain or when snow is present. Summer hiking is more straightforward and direct, while winter offers marked skiing routes for those with snow sports skills.
