Broicher Hof

Broicher Hof is a two-story manor house with distinctive architectural features including a bay window tower and a pitched roof in Eschweiler-Dürwiß. The building sits on Jülicher Straße and is surrounded by other historic farm estates in the area.

The manor house was first documented in 1434 and remained in the possession of the noble von Broich family for generations. This family held multiple estates and significant positions in the territories around Aachen and Jülich.

The coat of arms displayed on the property shows the combined emblems of two noble families from the 18th century. It tells the story of a marriage that united two families and remains visible as a reminder of this historical connection.

The manor house is located in a rural part of Eschweiler and is easily accessible via several cycling routes in the region. Visitors can view the exterior of the historic structure from the street and explore the surrounding countryside.

The estate's original name, Dürwisser Hof or Der Hofe zu Wyß, comes from a time when the local landscape was dominated by thornbushes and wet meadows. This old name is rarely remembered today, but historians value it as evidence of how the land was used in medieval times.
