Giant Cask, Wood barrel restaurant in Bad Dürkheim, Germany
The Dürkheimer Riesenfass measures 15 meters in length with a diameter of 13.5 meters, offering space for 430 guests across two interior levels.
Fritz Keller constructed this massive structure in 1934 using 200 spruce trees from the Northern Black Forest, creating 178 staves of 15 meters each.
The Giant Cask stands near the grounds of the annual Wurstmarkt wine festival, which draws more than 600,000 visitors during September celebrations.
Located at St. Michaels-Allee 1 in Bad Dürkheim, the restaurant opens daily from 11:30 AM with closing times varying between 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM.
This barrel structure holds a volume of 1.7 million liters, surpassing the Heidelberg Tun's capacity of 221,726 liters to claim the world's largest barrel title.
