Dürkheimer Haus, Cultural heritage building in Bad Dürkheim, Germany.
Dürkheimer Haus is a cultural heritage building with two wings located outside the former fortified city center of Bad Dürkheim. Following major renovations in 2006, it now houses a cafe-bar, dance hall, and parking facility.
Originally named 'Zum Schaaf', the building served as a guesthouse for over 200 years under various owners, beginning with Johann Conrad Schaaf until 1755. Its long role as an inn ended when it was transformed into a public venue.
The building hosted the founding of POLLICHIA in 1840, a society devoted to natural research and environmental protection. Visitors today can experience the rooms where this scientific movement began.
The location is easily reached on foot or by car and features parking on site, making visits convenient. The interior is well-marked and accessible for different types of visitors.
The building welcomed several kings and hosted Heinrich Hoffmann, the author of 'Struwwelpeter', during its history. Such distinguished guests made it a special gathering place in the region.
