Congress Centrum Heidenheim, convention centre and concert hall in Heidenheim/Brenz, Germany
Congress Centrum Heidenheim is a concert hall and convention center in Heidenheim an der Brenz located on Schlossberg hill next to Hellenstein Castle. It features a main hall seating over 500 people with an adjustable orchestra pit, smaller conference rooms, dressing areas, and a bright glass foyer for pre-event gatherings.
The center opened in September 2009 following an architectural competition held in 2006, won by the Stuttgart firm Dasch Zürn. Its construction required lowering the hillside by about 52 feet and cost around 52 million euros, marking a new venue for regional and national events.
The main hall is named after Martin Hornung, a former mayor, reflecting local history through its architecture. The center serves as a gathering place for cultural shows, theater performances, and community celebrations where visitors can experience live music and local traditions.
The venue is easily accessible by car with nearby parking, and trucks can drive at ground level directly to the stage for loading and unloading equipment. The wooden floors and adjustable sections allow for flexible setup of concerts, conferences, and exhibitions with modern lighting and sound systems.
The large foyer features unusually large glass panes whose concrete supports can settle by up to 8 centimeters, requiring extra metal reinforcement to prevent problems. The stage floor of thick Douglas fir wood at about 1.8 inches allows trucks to drive directly onto it, making equipment loading simple for exhibitions and large events.
