Haus zum Esslinger, Medieval building in Altstadt, Germany
The Haus zum Esslinger stands at the northeastern corner of Hühnermarkt between Römerberg and Dom, featuring late Gothic timber framing elements.
First mentioned in 1320, the building was destroyed during World War II air raids in 1944 and reconstructed as part of the Dom-Römer Project after 2010.
The Struwwelpeter Museum opened in the building in 2019, displaying works of Frankfurt psychiatrist Heinrich Hoffmann and his children's book character.
Located at Hinter dem Lämmchen 2, the building combines historical architecture with modern museum facilities in the center of Frankfurt.
Johann Wolfgang Goethe documented his experiences at this location, where his aunt Melber lived, in his autobiographical work Dichtung und Wahrheit.
