Hochschule für Kirchenmusik der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen

The school was founded in 1948 as a successor to an earlier church music program that started in 1925 at a conservatory in Dortmund. It emerged during the post-war period as a dedicated center for Protestant ecclesiastical music training.

The institution will move its operations to Witten beginning in the winter semester of 2025/26, ending its long presence in Herford. This relocation marks the close of more than seven decades of church music education at the current site.
