Marinetechnikschule, Naval Engineering School in Kramerhof, Germany
The Marinetechnikschule is a training facility for the German Navy in Kramerhof with multiple buildings equipped with simulators, workshops, and training facilities. The campus offers instruction in electronics, ship engineering, weapons systems, information technology, and maritime operations through courses lasting up to 21 months.
The school was founded in 1996 and consolidated nine separate marine schools into one central location. This project was the largest Bundeswehr investment in eastern Germany at the time.
The school maintains partnerships with international naval institutions and serves personnel across all ranks of the German Navy. You can see these connections reflected in the daily work and training programs throughout the facility.
This is an active military school, so access may be limited depending on current activities. Contact the facility in advance to inquire about tour availability or public visiting opportunities.
The facility preserves a diesel engine from 1912 that instructors use to teach students fundamental principles of marine propulsion systems. This engine illustrates how naval technology has evolved over more than a century.
