Schwedensäule

The Schwedensäule stands 12 meters tall with a crowned Swedish lion at its peak holding a sword and imperial orb atop an obelisk-shaped structure.

The memorial column was constructed in 1632 under orders from King Gustav Adolf to mark the Swedish troops crossing of the Rhine River during the Thirty Years War.

Visitors can reach the memorial through marked paths within the nature reserve, with informational panels providing details about its construction and historical context.

The Swedish lion sculpture at the column's summit points toward the direction of the original river crossing and the location of the Swedish cemetery.
