Leeheim

Leeheim is a district of Riedstadt located on the western side of the city in the Groß-Gerau region of Hesse. The area includes residential neighborhoods, modern infrastructure with schools and shopping facilities, sports grounds, and the Riedsee recreational area nearby.

The area appears in written records from 766 when a donation to Lorsch Abbey was documented. This early mention shows that settlement and economic ties to larger religious institutions existed in the medieval period.

The local heritage museum occupies a historic farmhouse in the village center and displays photographs and farming tools from earlier times. These items tell the story of rural life and agricultural traditions that shaped the community.

The area is easily accessible by car and offers basic services for daily needs along with public facilities. Visitors can orient themselves easily using local landmarks such as the museum and the Riedsee leisure area.

A radio monitoring station operated by the Federal Network Agency was established here in 1980 to detect unauthorized satellite transmissions. This technical facility remains largely invisible to visitors but contributes to national regulatory functions.
