Ruine Kargegg, Medieval castle ruin in Allensbach, Germany.

The remains of Kargegg Castle stand on a 492-meter sandstone hill, featuring a residential tower with walls measuring 14 by 16 meters.

The Lords of Möggingen constructed the castle around 1200, and it changed ownership multiple times before peasants burned it down in 1525.

The castle structure represents the front tower design common in medieval German architecture, with an elongated polygonal layout and deep defensive moat.

Visitors can access the ruins through hiking trails from Langenrain, following a 20-kilometer route with 410 meters of elevation gain.

The castle sits above Marienschlucht gorge, with sections of the southern residential tower wall remaining visible among scattered foundation stones.
