Fernmeldegebäude Konstanz, Telecommunications tower in Petershausen district, Constance, Germany.
Fernmeldegebäude Konstanz is a 62-meter tall building with an additional 28-meter antenna in the Petershausen district. It broadcasts radio, digital radio, and television signals across the Lake Constance region and surrounding areas.
Construction started in 1967 based on architect Hans Merkenthaler's design and was completed in 1971 as a postal office facility. It was built during a period when telecommunications infrastructure in southern Germany was being rapidly modernized.
The tower has become a landmark in the Petershausen neighborhood, shaping the local skyline for generations. Its distinctive appearance with red coloring and blinking warning lights makes it recognizable throughout the city.
The building stands in a central location within the city and is easily accessible from various streets. Visitors can view it from outside, as it is an active infrastructure facility.
Although the building falls below the 100-meter threshold for aircraft warning lights, it features two red warning lights at its peak. These lights are clearly visible at night and serve as a visual reference point for city orientation.
