Bibliothek des Konservatismus, Research library in Charlottenburg, Germany.
The Library of Conservatism is a research library in Berlin's Charlottenburg district holding over 136,000 publications on conservative and right-wing traditions from the 18th century to today. The collection spans political science, history, sociology, arts, and economics.
The institution grew from the private book collection of Caspar von Schrenck-Notzing and opened to the public as a research facility in Berlin during November 2012. Later, the extensive library of philosopher Gunther Rohrmoser was added, significantly expanding the holdings.
The collection reflects positions that have shaped German and international conservative thought over time. Visitors can explore writings that show how political ideas have evolved across different periods.
Visitors should register in advance since the facility operates as a research library. The building sits across from the Berlin University of the Arts and is easily reached by public transport.
The collection includes rare works by classical conservative thinkers like Edmund Burke and Roger Scruton, some in historical editions. These original publications offer insight into how ideas developed across long periods of time.
