Oberverwaltungsgericht Berlin-Brandenburg, Administrative court in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Germany
The Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg is the highest administrative court serving both states and operates from a building on Hardenbergstraße in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. It hears cases that challenge decisions from lower administrative courts, covering matters such as planning law, environmental protection, and government decisions.
The building was constructed between 1905 and 1907 and initially served as the Prussian Higher Administrative Court. Following a state treaty between Berlin and Brandenburg in 2004, the separate administrative court systems of both states merged in 2005.
This institution demonstrates the German legal system's commitment to protecting citizens' rights through specialized administrative jurisdiction at the state level.
Access is limited to visitors with official business since this is a functioning court. Anyone with a case or needing information should contact the court in advance to arrange their visit.
