Effizienzhaus Plus, Model house in Charlottenburg, Germany
Effizienzhaus Plus is a model house in Berlin that combines residential space with solar panels and modern design. The two-story structure uses black photovoltaic modules on its roof and walls to generate electricity.
The project began in 2010 as a Federal Ministry initiative through an architecture competition and was completed in late 2011. It emerged in response to growing demand for sustainable housing solutions in Germany.
The house demonstrates how modern living spaces work with solar energy and how people can shape their daily lives more sustainably. Visitors see how technology and housing fit together today.
The building is best visited by using the elevator to explore both floors easily. Plan to spend about one to two hours to thoroughly look at the interior spaces and solar technology.
At the heart of the house is a central energy core that bundles all technical systems and links residential living with electric vehicle charging. This innovative approach allows excess solar power to be directed straight to powering vehicles.
