Liebesinsel, Nature reserve near Radolfzell, Germany
The Liebesinsel covers 2,620 square meters on Lake Constance, measuring 97 meters in length and between 15 to 42 meters in width.
During the cadastral survey from 1867 to 1871, the island was first documented as an irregular square with measurements different from current dimensions.
The island appeared in the 1956 German film 'Die Fischerin vom Bodensee', where characters Hans and Maria shared romantic moments.
Visitors can observe the island through guided canoe tours during summer months, as direct access remains restricted due to conservation measures.
The small, uninhabited island forms part of the Mettnau Peninsula Nature Reserve, contributing to the regional biodiversity of Lake Constance.
