Heinrich Walbe designed this administrative headquarters between 1912 and 1920 following Traditionalist School principles of the era. Its completion came during a period of expansion for the pharmaceutical industry that had roots in the region for generations.

The building shows how early industrial corporations designed their administrative centers to project stability and importance through architecture. Its prominent position on Frankfurter Strasse reflects how major companies used their headquarters as a statement of institutional standing.
