The Freibad Lübbecke spans 18,500 square meters and contains a 50-meter pool with diving platforms at heights of 1, 3, 5, 7.5, and 10 meters.
Initial plans for the swimming facility date back to 1938, but construction was delayed due to World War II until its eventual opening on July 4, 1953.
The facility hosted the West German Championships in diving and platform diving in 1963, marking its status as a regional sports center.
Located near Lübbecke Hospital and 1000 meters from downtown, the facility provides convenient access for residents and visitors through available parking spaces.
In 2004, a public referendum led to the closure of this swimming pool, yet its protected status as a cultural monument preserved its historical structures.
