Iduna-Hochhaus, Office building in Osnabrück, Germany

The Iduna-Hochhaus is a high-rise building with 21 floors in Osnabrück that rises 65 meters (213 feet) into the sky. The structure houses 128 residential units and stands as the city's tallest residential building, with a distinctive concrete construction and exposed concrete facade.

The building was constructed in 1974, replacing the former villa of industrialist Wilhelm Lepenau that stood on the site. Architect Rolf Bohl designed the structure as part of Osnabrück's post-war development.

The building shows how Osnabrück rebuilt after the war and what architecture people chose at that time. The exposed concrete finish and massive form are typical of how German cities looked during the 1970s rebuilding period.

The building is visible from the outside and can easily be spotted when walking through the city center. You should explore the surrounding area to see the architecture from different angles and understand how it fits into the city landscape.

The 19th floor once housed a swimming pool, which was an early innovation for high-rises in Germany. This amenity showed how buildings in the 1970s were designed to offer everyday comforts for residents.
