Glass Hall, Theatre and concert venue in Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
The Glass Hall is a theatre and concert venue in Tivoli Gardens with a distinctive octagonal structure made of glass panels. It accommodates around 965 spectators and was designed by architect Poul Henningsen.
The building was constructed in 1863 as a concert hall and served as an important musical venue from its earliest days. After suffering damage during World War II, it underwent major reconstruction in 1946 to restore its function.
The hall has served as a stage for theatrical productions, musicals, and concerts that shape the cultural life of the park today. Visitors can watch performances ranging from classic shows to contemporary productions throughout the year.
The venue is fully accessible with wheelchair ramps and contemporary seating arrangements throughout. Visitors with hearing difficulties will find induction loops available to enhance their experience.
The renowned composer Hans Christian Lumbye created nearly 700 musical pieces specifically for performances in this hall during his time as music director. His compositions became deeply connected to the venue's identity.
