Larbaâ Nath Irathen, Mountain town in Tizi Ouzou Province, Algeria.
The elevated municipality stretches across an area of 86 square kilometers at an altitude of 710 meters in northern Algeria.
French forces defeated local Kabyle defenders in this location during the Pacification of Algeria campaign on May 25, 1857.
The name combines Arabic 'Larbaa' meaning Wednesday, the traditional market day, with 'Nath Irathen' referring to the local tribal lineage.
The municipality contains three administrative communes: Ait Aggouacha, Irdjen, and Larbaâ Nath Irathen, with a total population of 46,831 residents.
The town produced several independence movement leaders, including Abane Ramdane, who shaped the Algerian struggle for independence.
