Rusada

Rusada is an ancient Roman settlement in Mauretania Caesariensis on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria. The excavation site contains remains of residential quarters, religious buildings, and public structures that are spread across the landscape.

The Romans incorporated Rusada into their empire around 46 BC and developed it into an important trading center. The settlement flourished as an economic hub in the province before gradually declining in later centuries.

The mosaics found here show scenes of daily life and geometric patterns that reveal how Romans created art. They offer a window into the tastes and techniques of the people who lived in this place.
