Luxor Temple, Ancient Egyptian temple complex in Luxor, Egypt.
The temple features two massive courtyards connected by a 61-meter colonnade hall containing 28 columns that reach heights of 21 feet.
Construction began around 1400 BCE under Amenhotep III, with later additions by Ramesses II, including a court, pylon, and obelisks during the New Kingdom period.
The temple served as a center for the annual Opet Festival, where ceremonies celebrated the connection between the pharaoh and the god Amun-Re.
The temple opens daily for visitors, with evening light shows illuminating the detailed hieroglyphics and architectural elements against the night sky.
An active mosque, built during the medieval period, stands integrated within the temple structure, representing multiple layers of religious history.
