Egyptian National Military Museum

The Egyptian National Military Museum occupies three palace buildings on the grounds of the historic Cairo Citadel. The exhibits present weapons, uniforms, and military equipment spanning multiple historical periods.

Founded in 1938, the museum moved from central Cairo to the Haram Palace at the Citadel in 1949. This relocation allowed the collection to expand significantly within better-suited facilities.

The halls display weapons and equipment that shaped Egyptian military power across different eras, from ancient times to the present day. Visitors can observe how military gear and uniforms evolved over centuries.

The museum is open daily and features an expansive courtyard with outdoor displays alongside the three palace buildings. Wear comfortable shoes since walking between buildings and viewing outdoor exhibitions is part of the experience.

The outdoor area displays actual tanks and aircraft that saw combat, giving visitors a tangible sense of military hardware. These large vehicles allow people to understand the scale and power of such machines firsthand.
