Abu Madi, Neolithic tell site near Saint Catherine Monastery, Egypt
Abu Madi consists of two settlement areas with stone structures, including a 4-meter building and deposits reaching depths of 1.3 meters.
Archaeological excavations in the 1980s revealed evidence of human settlements dating from 9660 to 9180 BC during the late Khiamian cultural phase.
The settlements display characteristics of the Abu Madi Entity, showing patterns of temporary dwellings designed for nuclear families in the Sinai Peninsula.
The archaeological site spans 0.008 hectares and requires permits for access, with guided tours available through local archaeological authorities.
Archaeologists discovered a distinct type of arrowhead at this location, now classified as the Abu Madi Point, featuring elongated oval shapes.
