Al-Galala City, Planned urban development on Northern Galala Plateau, Egypt
Al-Galala City is a planned urban development situated at around 700 meters elevation on the western side of the Gulf of Suez. The project spreads across desert terrain and includes residential areas, a university, and modern infrastructure.
Construction began in 2015 as part of an Egyptian initiative to build modern urban centers outside traditional population zones. The project followed a new strategy for urban development aimed at redistributing population and creating economic opportunities.
Galala University shapes the educational landscape and brings students seeking a different learning environment to the area. Walking through the city, you notice how campus life influences the daily rhythms and social spaces.
The city is connected by a road of around 82 kilometers to the coastal towns of Ain Sokhna and Zaafarana, providing access to main transportation routes. Visitors should note that the elevation and remote location require planning for arrival and getting around.
The elevated position creates measurable differences in air temperature compared to lower coastal areas. This natural cooling effect noticeably shapes the climate and comfort levels throughout the city.
