Sultana Malak Palace

Sultana Malak Palace is a residential building in Heliopolis that combines European and Egyptian architectural elements. The structure features tall ceilings, decorated windows, and geometric patterns visible both outside and throughout its interior spaces.

A Belgian engineer designed the building in 1908 as a residence, which was eventually purchased rather than gifted. It served as a royal home for decades before its architectural importance was officially recognized.

The building reflects how Cairo's wealthy neighborhoods blended Eastern and Western design traditions in the early 1900s. The rooms and facades show the taste of an era when European sophistication and Egyptian design elements existed side by side.

The building sits on Orouba Street in the Heliopolis district and can be reached through this main thoroughfare. Visitors should allow time to examine the facade details and the grounds surrounding the structure.

After its years as a royal residence, the building was converted into a school starting in the 1960s. This practical transformation helped preserve the architecture for multiple generations before it eventually gained protected monument status.
