Lastres

Lastres is a fishing village on Spain's northern coast where narrow cobblestone streets climb steeply between stone buildings. A working port with dozens of boats lies at the waterfront, forming the center of village life.

The village grew as a fishing settlement and was developed in the 18th century with a church and clock tower that still stand today. This architecture defined the appearance of the place for centuries to follow.

The fishing tradition shapes daily life here, visible in the work along the harbor and the way locals move through the narrow streets. The port remains a gathering place where people watch boats and follow the rhythms of maritime work.

The village is reached via the A-8 highway with exits from nearby cities, and parking areas are located near the main streets. The steep narrow lanes are best explored on foot, as they become too tight for cars.

The cliffs nearby contain fossils from the Jurassic period, including dinosaur footprints visible at certain beach sections. These geological traces offer a window into a world from millions of years ago.
