Peña Tú

Peña Tú is a massive rock formation in the Puertas area with surfaces bearing numerous engravings and painted markings from prehistoric times. The marks range from stylized human figures to dot patterns and cover various sections of the monolith.

This archaeological site dates from the Neolithic period and documents the artistic activity of early inhabitants in the Asturias region. Beside the rock itself, burial mounds with preserved burial chambers were discovered nearby, indicating the site's long-term use.

The rock surface displays stylized human figures and geometric patterns that visitors can observe directly when arriving at the site. These visible representations offer insight into the artistic expressions and worldview of the ancient inhabitants who created them.

The site is accessible via the N-634 road heading toward Puertas de Vidiago, after which you simply follow the marked path to the rock. The route is clearly marked and access is free, with an on-site attendant providing information on certain weekdays.

The rock was reworked multiple times over centuries, suggesting it served different communities for various purposes. These layers of marks tell a story of several cultures that used this location and left their own signs behind.
