Bodegas Irache

Bodegas Irache is a winery at the foot of Mount Montejurra in Ayegui with extensive vineyards growing different grape varieties. The estate has modern production areas with temperature-controlled tanks and processes large quantities of wine each hour.

A monastery received these vineyards as a gift in 1072, laying the foundation for a long wine tradition. The current winery was founded in 1891 and continues this centuries-old legacy.

The museum here displays old winemaking tools and bottles from different decades, showing how production methods have changed over time. You can see what techniques were used in the past and how they evolved.

The estate sits directly on a well-known pilgrimage route and is easy to reach. Visitors can see different parts of the production process and learn about grape growing and winemaking.

Since 1991 there has been a wine fountain here where pilgrims can drink free wine, reflecting an old tradition of hospitality. This unusual gesture shows how the winery shares its history with travelers.
