Monasterio de Suesa, Trinitarian monastery in Suesa, Cantabria, Spain.
The Monasterio de Suesa is a Trinitarian monastery situated near the Cubas estuary in Cantabria. The structure comprises two adjoining building units with a rectangular church nave and is set within surrounding gardens.
The monastery was founded in 1860 by Mother Cruz from El Toboso, and the Trinitarian community relocated to the current site in 1887. This move was made possible through financial support from Juana López Basave.
The monastery served as a school for local children for many decades until its closure in 1974. The religious community shaped the area through its educational role in the region.
The monastery stands approximately 500 meters from the coast and offers lodging for visitors. The surrounding area provides access to walking trails and nearby beaches.
The Monastery Friends Association, created in 2001, regularly organizes cultural and spiritual events at the site. This group keeps the connection between the monastery and the surrounding community alive.
