Bullring of Toledo, Bullfighting arena in Toledo, Spain.
The Bullring of Toledo is a bullring in the old town of Toledo, Spain, recognizable by its stone walls and eight granite-faced sections that reflect Arabic architectural influences. It holds around 8,500 spectators and contains a chapel and a medical area inside the building.
The arena opened on August 18, 1866, replacing a former venue at Plaza del Zocodover, the city's central square. This move allowed events of this kind to take place in a building purpose-built for them.
The arena hosts the Corpus Fair in late May and early June, an event deeply rooted in the city's religious life. During these weeks, the space fills with locals and visitors who gather to take part in the celebration.
The arena is on Calle Huerfanos Cristino and can be reached on foot from the old town, walking through narrow streets and cobblestone paths. Sturdy footwear helps, as some sections of the route are steep.
Beyond bullfighting, the arena regularly hosts concerts and art exhibitions throughout the year. This makes it one of the few buildings of its kind that stays active well outside the bullfighting season.
