Sant Antoni de Portmany

Sant Antoni de Portmany is the municipality on Ibiza's western coast, stretching across Mediterranean terrain with sandy beaches and rocky coves. The town center features a working marina, while inland villages and farmland complete the landscape.

The area developed around a Roman harbor called Portus Magnus and functioned as a fishing village before modern tourism arrived. Since the 1950s, growth transformed it into a major travel destination that reshaped the landscape.

The white-washed village churches in Sant Agnes, San Mateo, and San Rafael serve as gathering places for locals and shape the community's identity. These settlements preserve pottery traditions passed down through generations, visible in workshops scattered throughout the area.

The waterfront marina offers regular ferry services to nearby beaches and weekly connections to Formentera island for day trips. Summer months bring crowds, so visiting early in the day or during shoulder seasons provides a calmer experience.

An egg-shaped monument sits in the town center, reflecting a local legend about Christopher Columbus demonstrating how to balance an egg upright. This story remains woven into the local identity and draws curious visitors to photograph the sculpture.
