Oulujoki Church

The wooden Oulujoki Church reaches a height of 22 meters and features decorative elements characteristic of early twentieth-century Finnish architectural design.

Architect Victor Joachim Sucksdorff completed this Lutheran church in 1908 for the former Oulu rural municipality, marking a new era in religious construction.

The church holds the status of Cultural Heritage Site of National Significance, reflecting its role in preserving Finnish architectural and religious traditions.

Regular worship services take place in the church, which maintains its original function under the Diocese of Oulu with restricted wheelchair access.

Following unpopular modernization efforts in the 1950s, the church underwent restoration work in the 1980s to return to its original Art Nouveau design.
