Oulujoki Church

Oulujoki Church is a wooden structure in the Art Nouveau style located in Kirkkokangas, built with decorative details typical of early twentieth-century Finnish design. The building was originally designed to serve as a parish church and continues to be used for religious services.

The architect Victor Joachim Sucksdorff completed this church in 1908 for the former Oulu rural municipality as an example of Art Nouveau religious architecture. Alterations made during the 1950s changed its appearance, but later restoration efforts worked to recover the original design.

The church serves as an active place of worship and community gathering in the local area, functioning much as it did when first built. Its wooden structure with flowing lines and ornamental details reflects how Art Nouveau style was applied to religious buildings in this region during that era.
