Sheikh Chilli's Tomb

Sheikh Chilli's Tomb is a mausoleum in Thanesar, India, with two graves, a religious school, and gardens organized in four symmetrical sections around a central pool. The layout follows classical Mughal design with carefully arranged spaces and water features.

The main grave honors Abd-ur-Rahim Abdul-Karim Abd-ur-Razak, a Qadiriyya Sufi teacher from the 14th century. His spiritual teachings attracted followers and made this place a center of religious learning during the Mughal period.

The Pather Masjid mosque displays red sandstone with floral ceiling patterns and Quranic verses inscribed in wall niches. This design reflects how religious spaces were decorated with care and artistic detail during the Mughal era.

The site is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with separate entry fees for Indian citizens and international visitors. The grounds are straightforward to walk through, and the arranged layout makes it easy to see all parts without getting lost.

Archaeological digs at Harsh-ka-Tila reveal continuous human settlement from the first century through to Mughal times. This layering of different periods makes the location a window into the region's long story.
