Government Engineering College, Siwan, Public engineering institute in Siwan, India.
Government Engineering College Siwan is a state-run engineering institute in Bihar, currently operating from a temporary campus at Loknayak Jai Prakash Institute of Technology in Chapra. It offers undergraduate engineering programs and has its own teaching and administrative staff while a permanent campus in Siwan is being developed.
The college was founded in 2018 by Bihar's Department of Science and Technology to expand access to engineering education in the Siwan region. From the start it was housed on a shared campus, pending the completion of its own site.
Students organize technical clubs and project groups where they work together on hands-on tasks. These groups shape daily life on campus and encourage exchange between different year groups.
Since the college currently shares a campus with another institution, it is worth contacting them directly before visiting to confirm the location and access conditions. Admission is based on JEE Mains scores and processed through the BCECE Board.
Although the college is named after Siwan, its students and staff are currently based in Chapra, a different city in Bihar. This means the college's name and its physical location do not match, which can easily mislead a first-time visitor.
