San Pietro Martire exhibits baroque architecture with stone arches, a portico, and a colorful majolica dome near the port area of Naples.
The church construction started in 1294 under Charles II of Anjou, with initial plans to house 13 monks in the adjacent Dominican monastery.
The monastery transformed into an educational center, now housing the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Naples Federico II.
Located at Via Porta di Massa 1, the church stands across from the main university building on Corso Umberto near Naples port.
The entrance displays a bas relief depicting death with the inscription 'memento mori' and contains tombs of King Ladislaus court members.
