Chiesa della Concezione a Materdei is an 18th century Baroque church in Naples distinguished by three small side chapels divided by pilasters. The main altar is attributed to Vaccaro's studio and represents the focal point of the interior space.

The building was founded in 1743 by Father Francesco Pepe, who established it alongside an educational institution for disadvantaged young women. This combination of religious function and social mission defined its original purpose.

The church holds the tomb of Bishop Domenico Ventapane of Teano positioned beside the main altar. Underground, it contains the burial site of the Duchy of Cassano, underscoring its role as a place of spiritual importance.

The building has remained closed to visitors since 2012 due to structural issues and safety concerns limiting access. Plan to view the exterior architecture from the surrounding plaza and check ahead about any restoration efforts before your visit.

A spire dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, designed by architect Giuseppe Astarita, was moved from the conservatory courtyard to Via Ugo Falcone. This relocation demonstrates how Naples has adapted and rearranged its architectural elements over time.
