The Santa Teresa degli Scalzi church features a Latin cross plan with a single nave containing works from prominent Baroque period artists.
Construction of the church began in 1604 under the Order of Discalced Carmelites, with consecration following in 1612 through donations from Peter of the Mother of God.
The interior preserves significant artworks by Paolo De Matteis and Niccolò De Simone, representing religious narratives through paintings and sculptures.
The church stands on via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, a street connecting central Naples to the Capodimonte district, with access via a ramp added in 1835.
This religious building contains the only sculpture of a Habsburg House member in Naples, depicting Emperor Charles VII, created by Giacomo Colombo in 1715.
