Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, Naples, Baroque church in Naples, Italy

Santa Teresa degli Scalzi is a Baroque church in Naples with a Latin cross layout and single nave containing artworks by major artists of that era. The interior features religious decorations with paintings and sculptural elements distributed along the walls.

Construction of this church began in 1604 under the Discalced Carmelites and it was consecrated in 1612. The project was funded through generous donations from order members.

The interior displays artworks by Paolo De Matteis and Niccolò De Simone that tell religious stories through paintings and sculptures. These pieces give visitors a sense of the artistic richness valued during that period.

The church sits on via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, a street linking central Naples to the Capodimonte district. Access is made easier by a ramp that was added in 1835.

This church holds the only sculpture of a Habsburg family member in Naples, depicting Emperor Charles VII. It was created by Giacomo Colombo in 1715 and is a rare record of the city's political past.
