Lodnerhütte, Mountain hut in Partschins, Italy
Lodnerhütte is a mountain hut located on the slopes of the Texel Group, sitting at roughly 2260 meters elevation and offering accommodation and meals for mountaineers. The shelter has around 60 beds and stands among forests that transition to alpine meadows and rocky outcrops as you climb higher.
The shelter was built in 1891 by the Meran section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club and underwent major reconstruction shortly after. Following World War One, it came under Italian management.
The hut carries two names - one German and one Italian - reflecting the blend of Tyrolean and Alpine Italian traditions in this mountain region. Visitors experience at this location the meeting of two cultures expressed through language, food, and daily routines.
The shelter operates only during the warmer months and overnight stays require advance notice and confirmation. Anyone planning to stay overnight should reach out early, as spaces are limited.
From the hut, visitors can embark on challenging mountain routes, including the Franz Huber route that climbs through varied alpine terrain. The marked trails pass through meadows, rocky passages, and steep sections that test different climbing skills.
