The church building features three hemicycle apses, plastered exteriors, and a rectangular layout with a traditional wooden truss roof structure.
Built in 765 AD under nobleman Cuninomodo's orders, the church received its bell tower in 1070 and underwent restoration with fresco additions in 1320.
The central apse contains a Byzantine-style Christ Pantocrator, while side apses display a Madonna Enthroned and Crucifixion scenes from different periods.
Located 800 meters from Sirmione center at Via San Pietro in Mavino 12, the church offers free entry with an optional donation system.
The name derives from 'ad summa vineas,' meaning place with high vineyards, reflecting its elevated position in the landscape of Sirmione.
