Schwarze Wand

Schwarze Wand is a mountain summit in the Rieserferner Group reaching about 3,100 meters (10,170 feet) in elevation. The peak is characterized by steep rock faces and multiple trails that cross its slopes.

This peak serves as a natural boundary separating the municipalities of Sand in Taufers, Percha, and Gais in South Tyrol. Its position along this borderline has made the mountain a defining landmark in the local landscape.

The mountain reflects the dual linguistic heritage of South Tyrol, carrying both Italian and German names that represent the region's mixed cultural identity.

Reaching the summit requires proper mountain equipment and experience in alpine terrain. Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions and bring warm layers.

During winter, the mountain becomes a ski touring destination with specific routes departing from Lake Anterselva. These expeditions combine technical climbing with alpine descents in a snowy landscape.
